Ugraded to Wordpress 2.3.1

I just upgraded the site to Wordpress 2.3.1 yesterday. I’m happy to report there were no issues and the upgrade was really smooth.

The upgrade process was really simple, just upload the new files to the server, just don’t overwrite your wp-content folder, and then run /wp-admin/upgrade.php! That was it, no need to run any SQL scripts or set any permissions, it was all done with one button press.

New Wordpress 2.3 Features

Canonical URLs- I really like how the site now redirects to www.jarrodgoddard.com if you type in jarrodgoddard.com. I haven’t gotten around to setting that up in my .htaccess file yet so now I don’t have to worry about it.

A couple other minor interface enhancements, mostly it’s quicker, but my list of drafts doesn’t list all of my 30 or so being-worked-on blog posts, which is great. Now it just lists 10 and has a link to view more.

New Tagging System - It’s nice to have this as well as the categories feature. I’ll be integrating it with Technorati soon.
